Community Development Strategy

The Community Development Strategy is a document that is intended to provide the framework within which the community’s vision and expectations for Community Support, Tourism Development and Promotion and Economic Development can be identified and prioritised.

The Community Support Function is designed to ensure Council is able to support and work closely with the Waitomo District Community. It ensures that community issues and needs are noticed and that Council understands those needs.

The Tourism Development and Promotion Function supports the Waitomo District Community through the provision of services such as i-SITES, event promotion, cultural/environmental and regional tourism. Tourism initiatives help foster and assist in growing the economy promoting the Waitomo District's rich heritage.

The Economic Development Function supports the Waitomo District Community through initiatives such as urban infrastructure planning, employment initiatives and new business development.
