Solid Waste Management (Collection and Disposal)

Solid Waste Management is the combination of asset management, financial, engineering and technical practices to reduce and dispose of general rubbish.

This Activity involves providing education on waste minimisation, the collection and separation of recyclables and the disposal of residual waste to landfill. Council owns and operates a District land disposal facility and also provides disposal services through fully serviced Refuse Transfer Stations located at Benneydale, Awakino, Piopio, Marakopa and Kinohaku. In addition Council provides a kerbside collection service for  recyclables and residual household waste for Te Kuiti, Piopio, Mokau and that part of the Rural Ward in and around Te Kuiti and Waitomo Village.
