Kerbside Refuse Collection Service

Council is meeting it's obligation under the 2008 Waste Minimisation Act and Council's Solid Waste (asset) Management and Minimisation Plan (SWaMMP), by providing a weekly Kerbside Refuse Collection Service for the communities of Te Kuiti, Piopio, Mokau and that part of the Rural Ward in and around Te Kuiti and Waitomo Village.

Only official Waitomo District Council (WDC) refuse bags are collected by the Kerbside Collection Service. All Official WDC refuse bags must be placed on the kerbside by 8:00am on the day of collection.

The Kerbside Refuse Collection Service takes place on the following days:              

  • Mokau / Awakino – Tuesday of each week.               
  • Waitomo Rural Ward / Piopio – Tuesday of each week.
  • Te Kuiti – Friday of each week

 

Official WDC refuse bags can be purchased from the following outlets:

·                Waitomo District Transfer Stations

·                Te Kuiti New World

·                Te Kuiti Four Square

·                Waitomo Caves Information Centre

·                Pio Pio Superette

·                Marokopa Camping Ground Store

·                Benneydale Food Store

·                Mokau Museum

·                Junction Service Station Awakino

Any change in timing of the Kerbside Refuse Collection Service due to Public Holidays, will be advertised in the Waitomo News one week prior to any change.
