Gardener

We are looking for a versatile, well organised, fit and energetic person who takes pride in their work to join our team.

You will be responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the Districts gardens, undertaking duties such as pruning, weeding, spraying, and preparation of flower beds and planting.

To be successful in this role you will have a passion for gardening and an understanding of gardening methods, a strong commitment to health and safety and be comfortable working in all weather conditions.  With a positive attitude and the ability to work unsupervised, you could be the one we are looking for.

A current Growsafe Certificate, Traffic Management Qualifications – Level 1 STMS would be an advantage, however training will be provided.  A current full New Zealand Drivers Licence is essential for this role.

Parks and Facilities Operator

Do you have an interest in amenity horticulture and enjoy working outdoors, then this could be the job for you.

Using a wide range of horticulture equipment you will assist with the day to day operation, maintenance and upkeep of the District’s parks, reserves, gardens, CBD areas and cemeteries.

Duties include mowing and lawn care, gardening, preparing burial sites and maintenance and upkeep of Council buildings, facilities and amenities.

Key skills required for this role include:

  • A passion for horticulture and related maintenance work
  • Physically fit to undertake all aspects of the role in all weather conditions
  • Ability to operate a wide range of machine
  • Strong commitment to health and safety
  • A current full New Zealand Drivers Licence

A current Growsafe Certificate, Traffic Management Qualification – Level 1 STMS and Licence Endorsements to operate a Forklift and Digger (Wheels Tracks & Rollers) would be an advantage, however training will be provided.
