Road works - Centennial Park area

Construction work will begin Tuesday 24 June around Centennial Park area to install concrete islands and road line marking. The roads to be marked are: Te Kūiti Road, Park Street, William Street and Ngarongo Road. We ask kindly that this area be kept clear of vehicles and residents do not park on the road for the next couple of days. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Slip on Te Waitere Road – please drive safe

Council is aware of a significant slip on Te Waitere Road. Currently the road is down to one lane with priority give way traffic control in place. Given there is poor weather forecast towards the end of the week, we encourage those needing to pass through this site to be vigilant and drive safely and to the conditions.

Draft Exceptions Annual Plan 2014/15

Waitomo District Council was seeking your feedback on the key proposals contained in the draft Exceptions Annual Plan 2014/15, over the period 8th April to 8th May 2014. Council received a total of 21 submissions to the draft Plan. Overall, three submitters Te Kuiti SPCA, Sport Waikato and Federated Farmers wished to be heard in support of their submission. Council are currently finalising the Plan, ready for adoption at the end of June.

Review of Bylaws

Council is required to review its Bylaws every five years, as per the requirements of the Local Government Act 2002. Council sought feedback on the Dog Control Bylaw/ Solid Waste Bylaw/ Public Places Bylaw and Public Health and Safety Bylaw over the period 8th April to 8th May 2014. A total of seven submissions were received on the bylaws under review, of which three submitters spoke to Council in support of their submission at a Council Meeting on 27 May.

TV Takeback Programme

The TV TakeBack programme has now finished. Waitomo District Council would like to thank the residents who made an effort to safely dispose of their old TVs through the programme.TV Takeback Eric

Waitomo District Council collected 369 TVs and Otorohanga District Council collected 550 TVs... a considerable amount of potentially harmful waste that won’t be going to landfill. These TVs are already entering national recycling facilities, where they will be taken apart and the components recycled.

Do you have electronic equipment that you no longer want or use? The Landfill accepts e-waste for collection, including computers/ screens, fax machines, home whiteware, TVs and electrical cables, basically anything with a plug.
