Waitomo District Council underwent a recent assessment by the International Accreditation New Zealand (IANZ), between 3 and 5 June. The assessment determines whether WDC complies with the requirements of the Building (Accreditation of Building Consent Authorities) Regulations 2006.

WDC must hold this accreditation in order for staff to be able to process and issue building consents and carry out building inspections. Losing these essential services would have a negative impact on the local building industry.

“We are pleased to advise that the outcome of the IANZ assessment was successful” says Regulatory Manager John Moran. “This excellent audit result was achieved because of the commitment of staff in the BCA who has ensured that systems and procedures are correctly followed at all times”
