My Vaccine Pass required from 24 January 2022

21 Jan 2022, 3:05 PM

From Monday 24 January 2022, a valid ‘My Vaccine Pass’ will be a condition of entry at Waitomo District Council (WDC) facilities for all people aged 12 years three months and older.

The decision to introduce the mandate under the new COVID Protection Framework (CPF) was resolved at an Extraordinary Council meeting on 14 December 2021, and was based on government guidance as well as considering the health and safety of both council frontline staff and those vulnerable members of our community across the district.

Initially set to commence on Monday 17 January 2022, time constraints due to the Christmas and New Year holiday period, coupled with operational capacity, has meant implementation was extended by a week.

From Monday 24 January 2022, anyone aged 12 years three months and older, will need a valid ‘My Vaccine Pass’ to enter the following WDC facilities:

  • Waitomo District Library
  • Waitomo District Council Admin Building and Council Chambers
  • Te Kuiti i-SITE
  • Council Controlled Halls (and community managed Council halls where required in accordance with the CPF)
  • Waitomo District Aquatic Centre

Due to the fast-changing pace of the COVID-19 environment, the risk levels and Council’s response will be monitored and reviewed no later than March 2022 and/or as legislative changes are advised, traffic light settings are changed and revised guidance by various sectors are issued.
