Public notification: Military funeral on Sunday in Te Kūiti.

A forward notice that there will be firing of blank cartridges which produce loud bangs in support of a military funeral sometime between the hours of 1.30pm to 3pm on Sunday in Te Kūiti.

There will be soldiers marching around the town in support of the funeral ceremonial event with weapons, so please do not be alarmed or concerned.

There will also be a road closure at the intersections near the Les Munro Centre in both directions on Sunday 15 March. The closure will be in place at 12.30pm to 1pm. 

Soldier presence in Te Kūiti will be prominent from Saturday afternoon and will increase up to 100+ on the Sunday for the funeral.

Waitomo District Rates Reminder

This is a friendly reminder that the third instalment of your 2016/2017 rates is due by 5pm, Tuesday 28 February 2017.  Rates invoices were posted out in January.

Payments received after 5pm, February 28 will attract a 10% penalty.

Rates payments can be made at the Waitomo District Council office, Queen Street Te Kuiti, over the phone by credit card or by Internet Banking using your valuation number as your reference.

Applications for Community Funding Discretionary Grants March Funding Round

Applications for the March Discretionary Grants funding round must be received by 5pm, Wednesday 1st March 2017.

Community clubs, groups and organisations within the Waitomo District on a not-for-profit basis may be eligible to apply.

Notice of maintenance work - sewer main Te Kuiti

Maintenance work is planned for the sewer main on Taupiri Street Te Kuiti, on Monday 27th February 2017.

Taupiri Street businesses and residents may experience minor and temporary odours while the work is in process. Traffic management will be in place by means of a temporary 30km/hr speed limit around the work site. A Stop-Go operation will be implemented if required. We ask that people take care when driving through the area. Thank you for your patience while we complete this work.
