Allan GODDARD
Independent
My principal place of residence is in the Waitomo Rural Ward area.
Following over 20 years in local government in Auckland, my wife, Mary-Anne, and I moved to Waitomo and purchased a sheep and beef farm at Kopaki. Over the last 15 years as a Waitomo Rural Councillor (six as Deputy Mayor) and as a qualified Resource Management Commissioner, I have made significant contributions including tightening financial management, introducing an additional forestry roading rate to help pay for damage during harvest, turning Inframax into a strong well managed company, establishing the Gallager Recreation Centre and selling surplus land to reduce long-term debt. I am committed to the future of this district and am standing again to ensure the best outcome for Waitomo ratepayers as the councils Waters functions move to a regional CCO and the Government implements legislative reforms. Future rate rises need to be kept in check to ensure Waitomo continues to be a place for people to live and thrive.
