Gavin Todd

Waitomo District Council

Waitomo Rural Ward
Electing 3 Councillors

Gavin TODD
Independent

My principal place of residence is in the Waitomo Rural Ward area.
I have decided to seek re-election as a Rural Councillor for Waitomo District Council.
During the past three years I have been conscious of the burden that rates put on our local community. I am comfortable with the decisions that have been made to increase roading rates on forestry blocks and cut funding to several organisations, such as Maru Trust, Waikato Tourism, Timber Trail and Te Kūiti Holiday Park.
I am a strong supporter of handing over control of local domains through long term lease, to local organisations. The Tainui Wetere Domain in Mōkau is an example of this and I am confident others will follow.
I feel I have made a contribution to the district by encouraging Council to stick to core activities.
I am pleased that I have been able to take peoples’ concerns to Council and have resolved many of these.
