Tāwhiao Te Rangi MCMASTER

Kei tō te ihu takoto ake
Kei tō waenganui tirohia
Tēnei ākina
Rite kia rite, rite kia rite!
This chant speaks on ensuring that those at work on our Regional Council are led right, elegantly and with command. This is what I will bring to Raki Māori through three kete mātauranga:
Tuairi– Protection of our Wai: I live by our wai, raised by our wai and know our wai;
Tuatea – Protection of our Whenua: Our Māori and Treaty settlement lands need to be treated uniquely by Regional Council and not neglected; Aronui – Protection of our Whakapapa: Having a genuine te ao Māori long-term decision-making focus is something our Regional Council lacks, I will bring this to the forum.
Overall, I will be about it, not speak about it. I’m not searching for political redemption, fame or glory like others. I’m here to do better. For you. Vote PapaTāwh.

Soraya PEKE-MASON
My principal place of residence is in the Raki Māori Constituency area.
It’s an honour to offer myself up as your candidate for Horizons. My experience spans politics and business, including serving on the Ratana Community Board, Rangitikei District Council, chairing my Iwi PSGE, various Māori Authorities, and serving as a List MP in Parliament. I now seek to take that expertise to the table of Regional Council.
For over 20 years I have dedicated my time and energy to community development and achieving equitable outcomes—whether at marae, hapū, iwi, or broader community level.
I currently serve on the Whanganui Regional Health Network, Treasurer of Whakaaronui-ki-te-ora MWWL, member Whanganui Māori Tourism and former foundation member of Iwi Māori Partnership Board Te Mātuku.
I bring a renewed burst of energy enthusiasm and commitment to the table, representing your interest will be my number one priority role for the next three years!

Raki Māori Constituency
Electing 1 Regional Councillor
Elijah PUE
Te Pāti Māori
My principal place of residence is in the Raki Māori Constituency area.
I'm running for council to serve the community I love. Born, raised and now living in Raetihi, I bring both rural roots and urban experience, which gives me a valuable perspective on the diverse needs across this place we call home.
As a former elected member of the Ruapehu District Council, I bring a strong understanding of how local government works. I have community governance expertise—serving my iwi and participating on boards across iwi, marae, health sectors, and local businesses. These experiences have deepened my commitment to advocating for our people and our unique environment.
As a rangatahi Māori, I'm eager to build on the achievements of those who came before us. I’m deeply passionate about the wellbeing of our environment, especially the mountain we call Koro and the lifeblood of our rivers and streams we connect to.
I'm back and I’m ready to get on with the mahi.
Kei te whai tūru kaunihera au mō te hapori e aroha nei au. Ko Raetihi tōku tūrangawaewae, ā, he wheako tuawhenua, noho tāone anō hoki ōku nō reira he whānui taku tirohanga ki ngā hiahia maha o tō tātou kāinga.
Kua hoki mai, kua rite, me koke whakamua.

Ruapehu Constituency
Electing 1 Regional Councillor
Nikki RILEY
My principal place of residence is not in the Ruapehu Constituency area.
Ohakune based Accountant, current Horizons Regional Councillor and Justice of the Peace, I seek your vote to ensure Ruapehu is well-represented, resourced, and respected in regional decisions. We have unique challenges and opportunities facing our communities. I will continue to work hard to guarantee Ruapehu’s voice is heard around the council table; supporting proactive pest control, resilient infrastructure, sensible freshwater policy, increasing local catchment collectives, protection of highly productive land, food security and prudent investment that benefits our rural communities. I have a deep connection to our district as a property owner and employer, and have previously served as a Ruapehu District Councillor, Chair of Visit Ruapehu, and Chair of Ōhakune 2000 Inc. Having led local projects including the award-winning Ohakune Old Coach Road, a section of our Mountains to Sea Cycle Trail & Mangawhero River Trails, my vision is for a sustainable, resilient and prosperous Ruapehu. Vote Nikki Riley.
