Slip on Te Waitere Road – please drive safe

Council is aware of a significant slip on Te Waitere Road. Currently the road is down to one lane with priority give way traffic control in place. Given there is poor weather forecast towards the end of the week, we encourage those needing to pass through this site to be vigilant and drive safely and to the conditions.

INZONE mobile careers coach

CONNECTING CAREERS TO STUDENTS ONBOARD THE INZONE COACH

A mobile careers centre for students and jobseekers rolls into Taranaki and King Country next week.

The Inzone Careers Coach brings together careers’ information through interactive, digital kiosks with each person on the coach able to select their own vocational pathway.

The visit of the purpose-built 15 metres-long coach is being co-ordinated by Connected Employment Liaison Advisor (ELA) Briar Hickling who says the coach is unique in lots of different ways.

“Young people respond well to digital video and in the Inzone Careers Coach they each get 25 minutes at a kiosk to select information that’s the most relevant to the jobs and career they’re interested in.

“It’s individual to them and they can choose what sectors and work opportunities they want to learn more about.  They are learning by doing with the information also aligned with the vocational pathways which cover the six industry sectors.”

She says this is a no-cost event where local training providers, tertiary institutions, employers and employment support organisations will be on hand to provide regionally specific information.

Scheduled to park on the Te Kūiti High School grounds for local schools on Wednesday 3 May, we expect an estimated 350 students to experience the coach and take advantage of the virtual reality IVS Heavy Vehicle Simulator on site.

On Thursday 4 May, this opportunity is extended to another 150 of the general public while parked at the Te Kūiti Community House.

Joining in the action will be “Go with Tourism” providing tourism & hospitality virtual reality experiences.

Connected is the All of Government service that collects together information about jobs, business support and training from across government agencies. Find out more Connected – Employment, Education and Training
