Statutory Declaration - Vacant and Unoccupied Part(s) of a Rating Unit

A declaration may be completed to declare that the unit or part of the unit will remain vacant for any given rating year.  Declarations must be made annually by 31 May each rating year and will be effective for the following rating year beginning 1 July.  

Where there is a single part identified on the rating unit and the single part is vacant, the rating unit will be rated as one separately used or inhabited part with the exception of water, sewerage, and solid waste collection charges. In this situation the rating unit will be charged the "serviceable" rate for water and sewerage and will not be rated for solid waste collection. 

Where there are multiple parts identified on the rating unit and a part is deemed to be vacant for any given rating year this part will not be rated as a separately used or inhabited part.
