The Water Alert Level for the Waitomo district is 1. Residents are urged to conserve water use in and around the home.

• Avoid watering gardens during the day: the ideal time is 6am - 8am and 6pm - 8pm to reduce evaporation.
• Use a water saving attachment on your hose and do not leave hoses running unattended.
• Avoid washing paths and driveways, use a broom instead.
• Avoid re-filling your swimming pool and use a pool cover when not in use.
• Turn off the tap when brushing your teeth or shaving.
