Slip on Te Waitere Road – please drive safe

Council is aware of a significant slip on Te Waitere Road. Currently the road is down to one lane with priority give way traffic control in place. Given there is poor weather forecast towards the end of the week, we encourage those needing to pass through this site to be vigilant and drive safely and to the conditions.

2022/23 Resurfacing Programme commences

14 Dec 2022, 8:37 AM

Now that the summer months are upon us and the warm weather will be here for a while, the first section of Waitomo District Council’s annual resurfacing programme has begun.
Our roading contractors have commenced work on Papakauri Road, and resealing is soon to begin on Mangatoa Road. The remainder of the programme will commence in 2023.
More than 32km of resurfacing will take place over several streets and roads throughout the district between December 2022 and March 2023. Resealing is required to maintain the condition of our roads. The average life of a seal coat in our district, is approximately 11 years.
The resealing will be undertaken by Inframax Construction Ltd and subcontractor, Higgins.
