Leak detection in Maniaiti/Benneydale

Waitomo District Council contractor McIndoe Group are planning to carry out water leak detection in Maniaiti/Benneydale starting this Friday, 19 September 2025.

Leak detection helps identify where there could be faults in the network and can also help determine where water loss is occurring.

The leak detection investigation will occur from 8am to 5pm and although there will be a temporary interruption to water supply, it should not overly disrupt or interfere with normal usage.

UPDATE: ROAD CLOSURE - MT MESSENGER
Please see below the updated information from Waka Kotahi NZTA about the Mt Messenger road closures
UPDATE 11 MAY: The full closure of State Highway 3 at Mt Messenger for the recovery of the logging truck, which had been scheduled for Thursday 19 May, will now take place on Sunday 22 May (with Sunday 29 May the contingency date, in case of poor weather).
The Stop/Go traffic management will now start from Thursday 19 May (not Friday 20 May), with a full road closure on Sunday 22 May, as detailed above.
All other previous road closure information remains the same.
