Maniaiti/Benneydale Hall carpark to receive facelift

19 Jan 2024, 3:15 PM

The Maniaiti/Benneydale Hall carpark on Maniaiti Road will soon receive a facelift, with construction works due to start next week.

The project to seal the carpark will be fully-funded by Waitomo District Council using its allocated Three Waters “Better-Off” Funding, meaning the work will come at no cost to ratepayers.

In 2022, Council received $3.55m from Central Government’s Three Waters Better-Off Fund to spend on projects that support improvements to town amenities and community well-being.

General Manager Infrastructure Services, Shyamal Ram says the upgrade would make a big difference to the town if the carpark was sealed.

“Having a sealed carpark will create better accessibility and greater ease of use for those who use it.”

The works will be undertaken by MS Civil Ltd and will take about two weeks to complete.

Construction of sealed truckparks on State Highway 30 near Ellis Road is also scheduled to start in Maniaiti/Benneydale next month.

This project is also being funded by the Three Waters “Better-Off” Funding.
