Slip on Te Waitere Road – please drive safe

Council is aware of a significant slip on Te Waitere Road. Currently the road is down to one lane with priority give way traffic control in place. Given there is poor weather forecast towards the end of the week, we encourage those needing to pass through this site to be vigilant and drive safely and to the conditions.

Repair work completed on Te Anga Road

5 Sep 2024, 11:19 AM

We have completed the upgrade of two sections of Te Anga Road.

The section of road was identified for improvement due to the poor condition of the pavement and the surfacing. A full road rehabilitation was undertaken over 1.78km, which involved laying new pavement, widening the shoulder and upgrading existing drainage infrastructure.

A section of bank was also stabilised after a landslip during Cyclone Dovi. Work involved placing 240 tonnes of limestone slabs to the embankment, which will help prevent erosion from the stream.

The existing culvert was also upsized and the roadside drain cleared and to increase the storm water capacity along the stretch of road. A site rail and edge marker posts were also installed.
