The WDC Customer Services and Visitor Hub, Waitomo District Library and Admin Building will be closed on on Friday 6 February for Waitangi Day. All waste transfer stations will also be closed.

Change of days to temporary Awakino Waste Transfer Station schedule
Due to unforeseen circumstances, we have had to change the open days of the Awakino Waste Transfer Station for the last week of the extended holiday schedule.
It will now open from 9am to 1pm on the following days:
Sunday
Monday
Tuesday
Wednesday
Thursday
The normal schedule will for Awakino Transfer Station will resume Sunday 8 February 2026.

Proposal to temporarily close Road/Street To Ordinary Vehicular Traffic - Christmas Parade 2025

PURSUANT to the Transport (Vehicular Traffic Road Closure) Regulations 1965, notice is hereby given that the Waitomo District Council, for the purpose of the Waitomo District Christmas Parade 2025 proposes to temporarily close the following roads/streets to ordinary vehicular traffic for the periods indicated:

Date: Friday, 12 December 2025
Period of Closure: 3pm to 8pm.

Streets/Roads:
- Rora Street (from Ward Street to South End Loop)
- King Street East (from Rora Street to Taupiri Street)

Any person objecting to the proposal is called upon to lodge notice of objection and grounds thereof in writing, before 5pm on Thursday 14 November 2025 at the office of Waitomo District Council, 15 Queen Street, Te Kūiti.
