Upcoming road closure - Te Kūiti Road

A section of Te Kūiti Road between Ngarongo and Nettie Streets will closed for one day on Thursday 12 March 2026 to allow works to be undertaken. Access for residents and the dairy will still be provided.

Proposal for temporary closure of road/street to ordinary vehicular traffic

PURSUANT to the Local Government Act 1974 (Schedule 10) Regulations 1974, notice is hereby given that the Waitomo District Council, for the purpose of the Waitomo Rally proposes to temporarily close the following roads/streets to ordinary vehicular traffic for the periods indicated:

Period of closure: 9am to 5pm

  • Ngapaenga Road - gravel section closed entirely.
    Side roads affected - Pomarangai, Were, Tawarau Roads.
  • Waitanguru Road - closed entirely.
    Side roads affected - Pomarangai, Mangaotaki, Maire Roads
  • Pungarehu Road - closed entirely.
    Side roads affected - Mangaotaki Road.
    Intersection Mairoa Road (closure start)
  • Kohua Road - closed from Tikitiki to Owen Road
    Intersections affected - Tikitiki Road (closure start)
    Side roads affected - Kaitaringa, Rauriki, Ngatamahine Roads.
  • Owen Road - closed entirely.

Alternative routes: No alternative routes are provided and access is restricted as per information provided to affected residents.

Any person objecting to the proposal is called upon to lodge notice of objection and grounds thereof in writing, before 5pm on Monday 20 April 2026 at the office of Waitomo District Council, 15 Queen Street, Te Kūiti.
