National Shake Out Day

Thursday 28 October 2021 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM

Today is New Zealand’s National Shake Out Day.

The important message from Shake Out Day is for us all to take a couple of minutes to prepare for an earthquake and tsunami.  You can do this at 9.30am by practicing your Drop, Cover and Hold wherever you are.  For those who are near coastal areas, you can also practice what to do in the event of a tsunami.

Take some time to prepare with your family a plan of action for an emergency if you and your loved ones are together or apart during an emergency, where to meet, and where your tsunami evacuation zone is.
