Census is almost here – 7 March 2023

Census data is very important as it provides an overview/ snapshot of life for our people and communities every 5 years.

This data is then used to ensure our community’s needs are met.

New Zealanders will start receiving their Census packs from 21 February.

Census has ensured that this year Census is more accessible.  There is a free Helpline (0800 CENSUS) where you can get assistance, which is also available in multiple languages.

The Census website can be viewed in English and te reo Māori, and there is also additional information in 27 other languages including New Zealand Sign language videos.
