The WDC Customer Services and Visitor Hub, Waitomo District Library and Admin Building will be closed on on Friday 6 February for Waitangi Day. All waste transfer stations will also be closed.

Water Alert Level 2 - PIopio
Due to operational issues and the current hot weather, Piopio township will move into Level 2 water restriction from tomorrow - Friday 6 February 2026.
Water conservation measures are required to reduce demand on the water treatment plant. We ask Piopio residents to be mindful of their water use.

King Charles III Coronation Tree Planting Ceremony

Waitomo District Council would like to invite the community to attend a special Tree Planting Ceremony, to mark the Coronation of His Majesty Charles III, King of New Zealand on Saturday 6 May 2023

The Ceremony will take place on Saturday 6 May 2023, commencing at 11am at the Redwood Park, Te Kūiti.

(Please gather at 10.45am in preparation for the opening Karakia at 11am)
