Update as at midday, Tuesday 9 September.
Police have extended their cordon as far as the Marokopa/Taharoa intersection and will be in place for an unknown period. This will affect access to Piripiri School.

Council open hours for Tuesday 16 September

The WDC Customer Services and Visitor Hub, Library and Admin Building will be closed on Tuesday 16 September 2025 until 11am.

A Minecraft Movie

Get together for an evening of fun, connection, and entertainment at the Community Movie Night!

Enjoy a free screening of A Minecraft Movie, while helping support local families through foodbank donations. It’s a chance to relax, catch up with friends and whānau, and give back – all in one night.

Entry details

  • Free entry - no bookings required.
  • Capacity is limited - once we’re full, we won’t be able to admit more guests. First in first served. Arrive early to avoid disappointment.
  • Koha - Food donations - As part of this community event we’re collecting non-perishable food donations for our local foodbanks to support families in need. If you’re able to bring items like canned goods, pasta, rice, or other shelf-stable foods, your contribution would be greatly appreciated.

Time Movie starts at 7pm. Doors will be open from 6pm. 
Place Les Munro Centre, Te Kūiti
Entry Free, but donations of non-perishable foods would be appreciated. These will be taken to our local foodbanks.

Food & Snacks

 

Some of our local food trucks will be there with food to purchase:

  • Te Kuiti Lions
  • The Valley Foodtruck
  • Doubl’n Up Donuts and Ice Cream
  • Te Kūiti High School students will also be running their own food stall to help fundraise for their upcoming trip to the Hillary Outdoor Centre.

What not to bring

Please note alcohol, smoking and vaping is strictly prohibited at this family-friendly event.
