Keep Te Kuiti vibrant and thriving

10 Dec 2013, 8:00 AM

Waitomo District Council provides a litter control service. Recently the amount of litter that is collected off the pavement, garden beds and other public areas in Te Kuiti township has increased significantly. This has resulted in an increase in the cost to ratepayers in funding this service.

Litter bins are located along Rora Street Te Kuiti, in the surrounding streets, playgrounds and parks and reserves. Please use them. A littered town is unsightly, and has a negative impact on the image of our town, tourism and local business.

Council’s vision is to create a better future for the Waitomo District, with vibrant communities and thriving business.

In order to achieve this, we must set good examples, by taking pride in our town environment and putting food wrap and other litter in the rubbish bin.

Under the provisions of the Litter Act 1979, an infringement notice can be served by a Litter Control Officer if a person is observed committing an infringement offence or has reasonable cause to believe such an offence is being or has just been committed by that person.

This publication seeks to promote community pride in our district. If you have concerns about litter issues or would like to make a service request, visit the online service request system https://www.fixmystreet.org.nz
