Special alcohol licences for summer events

If you're holding an event this summer that will need a special alcohol licence, please plan ahead and apply as soon as possible.
Under the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 (the Act), all applications must be made at least 20 working days before the event is held (although exceptions can be made for unforseen events such as funerals).
If your event occurs between 20 December 2016 and 7 February 2017 the application must be lodged with the Waitomo District Licensing Committee by 22 November 2016.
That’s because under the Act, a 'working day' does not include weekends, statutory holidays or any day from 20 December and 15 January (inclusive).
