Three Waters infrastructure renewals nearing completion

A range of projects to upgrade and replace three waters infrastructure throughout the Waitomo district are nearing completion.

Waitomo District Council’s contractor Camex Civil has been working since May this year to renew and upgrade water, wastewater and stormwater pipes in Te Kūiti and Piopio.

The scheduled work is part of the annual renewal and upgrade programme. Pipes in poor condition are identified and replaced each year.

Work has included renewing watermains on Lusk Street and Butler Street, a stormwater pipe in Edward Street, wastewater pipe in Alexandra Street, watermains in Moa and Tui Streets in Piopio and a wastewater pipe in Seddon Street.

General Manager Infrastructure Services, Shyamal Ram says Council’s goal is to improve the quality and efficiency of water services in our district.

“We are also working on several plans, both long-term and short-term to improve the resilience of our three waters infrastructure.”
