Pool maintenance works still underway

25 Sep 2023, 2:07 PM

The opening of the Waitomo District Aquatic Centre will be delayed to enable maintenance work to be completed.

The work started earlier this month by painting and maintenance contractor Carus Group Ltd, and includes maintenance, minor crack repairs, and painting.

Waitomo District Council’s General Manager Infrastructure Services, Shyamal Ram says weather has impacted the ability of the maintenance work to be completed in time for opening season.

“Unfortunately, work could not be carried out any earlier and we apologise for the inconvenience.

“We understand the importance of this project and we are committed to providing an outstanding facility for the community, and we look forward to observing the positive impact this project will have once completed.

“We are confident the end result will greatly benefit the community, including schools, swimming clubs, and all pool users, it is just unfortunate we cannot open the facility on schedule.”

Waitomo District Council will update the community about the opening of the Aquatic Centre once the work is completed.
