Kent Street repairs to start soon

15 Sep 2025, 10:21 AM

Construction company Camex Civil has been awarded the contract to undertake the slip repair on Kent Street in Te Kūiti.

Work involves the construction of a new timber retaining wall as well as pavement rehabilitation, drainage improvements and a safety barrier installation.

Before Camex can establish onsite, some service relocation work will need to be completed to enable construction of the retaining wall and associated works.

Service relocation work is planned to start Tuesday 16 September subject to weather conditions.

Stop/Stop traffic management will be in place during these approved times:

9am – 12pm, 12.30pm – 2.30pm, and 3.30pm – 5pm.

During these times, vehicle access will be restricted. We ask that you plan your movements on these days outside of the proposed times.

The site crew will do their best to accommodate residents needs to move in and out of the area while the Stop/Stop is in place, however, due to the nature of the work delays may be encountered if trying to pass through the site during the proposed times. A letter has been distributed to affected residents with more detail.

Once the service relocation is completed, the priority give way that has been in place will be reinstated until Camex establish on-site.

Camex are planning to establish onsite on Monday 29 September, and more information will be provided closer to the time regarding the expected disruptions to traffic movements during the construction of the retaining wall.

We ask for your patience and understanding while we undertake these works to restore full access for the Kent Street residents.
