Public notification: Military funeral on Sunday in Te Kūiti.

A forward notice that there will be firing of blank cartridges which produce loud bangs in support of a military funeral sometime between the hours of 1.30pm to 3pm on Sunday in Te Kūiti.

There will be soldiers marching around the town in support of the funeral ceremonial event with weapons, so please do not be alarmed or concerned.

There will also be a road closure at the intersections near the Les Munro Centre in both directions on Sunday 15 March. The closure will be in place at 12.30pm to 1pm. 

Soldier presence in Te Kūiti will be prominent from Saturday afternoon and will increase up to 100+ on the Sunday for the funeral.

MEET THE COUNCIL CANDIDATES EVENINGS

  • Waitomo Cultural and Arts Centre: Tuesday 14 September 2010, 7.30pm
  • Mokau Hall: Wednesday 15 September 2010, 7.30pm
  • Te Anga Hall: Tuesday 21 September 2010, 7.30pm
  • Piopio Memorial Hall: Wednesday 22 September 2010, 7.30pm

The purpose of the evening is to provide an opportunity for Candidates to introduce themselves and their proposed policies to the public.

Candidates will be allocated three minutes speaking time followed by five minutes for questions from the public.  At the conclusion of all addresses, there will be an opportunity to meet with the Candidates in an informal way so that members of the public can ask further questions.  

The evening will be hosted by the Waitomo District Council and will be chaired by an Independent Chairperson.
