Water Alert Level 2 - PIopio
Due to operational issues and the current hot weather, Piopio township will move into Level 2 water restriction from tomorrow - Friday 6 February 2026.
Water conservation measures are required to reduce demand on the water treatment plant. We ask Piopio residents to be mindful of their water use.
Water shutdown notice - William Street and adjoining streets
A water shutdown will be happening from 9am to 3.30pm today along William Street and adjoining streets. This is to allow council contractor Schick Civil to commission a new watermain line. Thank you for your understanding.

Matariki Maternity Services - Public Consultation Meetings

The District Health Board (DBH) have undergone a feasibility study to review the maternity services at Matariki, Te Awamutu.  In summary, the DBH has found that it is not economic to continue the maternity services in its current form.

The DBH is holding community consultation meetings in order to hear the communities views and discuss options for the future.

We need to hear from you!  Your thoughts and opinions are important and valued and need to be heard. 

The following meetings will be held at the Te Awamutu Baptist Church Hall, 106 Teasdale Street, Te Awamutu.

  • Wednesday 15 January 2014, 11.00am - 12.00 midday
  • Monday 10 February 2014, 6.30pm - 7.30pm
