Large scale works along Carroll Street/SH3 in New Year

Significant traffic diversions will be in place in the New Year as large-scale works will be undertaken along Carroll Street/SH3 in Te Kūiti. From mid-January 2025, Carroll Street/SH3 will be reduced to one lane to allow for Council’s contractor Camex Civil to replace a large watermain. Read more

Road works at Rora Street level crossing
Higgins Contractors will be undertaking a full replacement of the Rora Street level crossing near Te Kūiti Primary School. The work will be carried out over two days from 5am on Sunday 19 January 2025 through to midnight on Monday 20 January. Traffic diversions will be in place.
Please note this work is separate to the railway crossing works being undertaken by Fulton Hogan at the southern end of Rora Street at the same time.

Pound Officer (Part-Time)

We are seeking an enthusiastic person to provide exceptional service in the day to day operations and maintenance of WDC Pounds.

You will ensure WDC meets its statutory obligations in respect of dog and stock impounding services and animals are cared for and handled in a safe and humane manner which includes feeding, exercising and cleaning.

Applicants will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, proven experience in the control of dogs and stock handling skills.

You will be reliable, have a great work ethic and be able to withstand the physical requirements of the role.

Parks and Facilities Operator

Do you have an interest in amenity horticulture and enjoy working outdoors, then this could be the job for you.

Using a wide range of horticulture equipment you will assist with the day to day operation, maintenance and upkeep of the District’s parks, reserves, gardens, CBD areas and cemeteries.

Duties include mowing and lawn care, gardening, preparing burial sites and maintenance and upkeep of Council buildings, facilities and amenities.

Key skills required for this role include:

  • A passion for horticulture and related maintenance work
  • Physically fit to undertake all aspects of the role in all weather conditions
  • Ability to operate a wide range of machine
  • Strong commitment to health and safety
  • A current full New Zealand Drivers Licence

A current Growsafe Certificate, Traffic Management Qualification – Level 1 STMS and Licence Endorsements to operate a Forklift and Digger (Wheels Tracks & Rollers) would be an advantage, however training will be provided.
