Postponement again of official opening and blessing of the Mangaokewa Walkway Cultural Storyboards

Waitomo District Council, with the support of Ngāti Rōrā, have made a call to POSTPONE the official opening and blessing of the Mangaokewa Walkway Cultural Storyboards for the second time.This is due to the heavy rain forecast for the rest of the week. The ground will be wet and the weather looks worse for Friday (26 September 2025). It's important to us that this significant occasion is done correctly. We will schedule another blessing to be held later in the year when the weather has improved.

District Transfer Stations

Waitomo District Landfill, Awakino, Mokau, Maniaiti/Benneydale and Piopio Transfer Stations are closed on Monday 26 October.

Marokopa and Kinohaku Transfer Stations remain open, 9am - 1pm.

 

Other services and facilities

Kerbside Refuse and Recycling Collection Services will take place as normal.

Waitomo District Library will be closed.

Te Kuiti Visitor Information Centre i-SITE will be closed.

Waitomo District Aquatic Centre will be open 12pm–6pm.
