Postponement again of official opening and blessing of the Mangaokewa Walkway Cultural Storyboards

Waitomo District Council, with the support of Ngāti Rōrā, have made a call to POSTPONE the official opening and blessing of the Mangaokewa Walkway Cultural Storyboards for the second time.This is due to the heavy rain forecast for the rest of the week. The ground will be wet and the weather looks worse for Friday (26 September 2025). It's important to us that this significant occasion is done correctly. We will schedule another blessing to be held later in the year when the weather has improved.

Accessway upgrade at Te Kūiti Cemetery

Plans are in place to upgrade a portion of the accessway at Te Kūiti Cemetery.
The unsealed road section of the cemetery (pictured) will be prepared for a chip seal surface, which will improve drivability for all.
Works are scheduled to start early next week if possible and will take about 10 working days to complete. Full consideration will be given to any ceremonies that may take place during that time.
