Postponement again of official opening and blessing of the Mangaokewa Walkway Cultural Storyboards

Waitomo District Council, with the support of Ngāti Rōrā, have made a call to POSTPONE the official opening and blessing of the Mangaokewa Walkway Cultural Storyboards for the second time. This is due to the heavy rain forecast for the rest of the week. The ground will be wet and the weather looks worse for Friday (26 September 2025). It's important to us that this significant occasion is done correctly. We will schedule another blessing to be held later in the year when the weather has improved.

We thank you again for your understanding and support.

Manhole inspections to start in Te Kuiti

15 Mar 2022, 9:16 AM

Waitomo District Council will start inspections of manholes in Te Kuiti this week.

This may require access onto private property. Contractors will have letters identifying they are working on behalf of WDC and will be able to show ID. If your property was visited and no one was home, a brief note will be left in your letterbox.

The work being undertaken is to record the accurate location of Council infrastructure using a global positioning system.

This work is expected to take two to three weeks and could extend to other towns in the district.
