Waitomo District Council, with the support of Ngāti Rōrā, have made a call to POSTPONE the official opening and blessing of the Mangaokewa Walkway Cultural Storyboards for the second time.This is due to the heavy rain forecast for the rest of the week. The ground will be wet and the weather looks worse for Friday (26 September 2025). It's important to us that this significant occasion is done correctly. We will schedule another blessing to be held later in the year when the weather has improved.

The public toilets by the boat ramp in Mōkau have been scheduled for a full refurbishment, starting Monday 7 November.
It is anticipated the toilets will be closed for the majority of the week, while work is being undertaken.
