Awakino Head water supply shutdown Thursday 17 August 2023 - 10am to 12pm

11 Aug 2023, 5:48 PM

McIndoe Plumbing will be undertaking work on behalf of Waitomo District Council to replace  a water Flowmeter on the water supply to Awakino Heads and Awakino.

This will require a full water supply shutdown.

Although Awakino has a small water reservoir that would be supplying water to Awakino during the water shutdown, there is always a chance of something going wrong.

When is the water shutdown happening?

Thursday 17 August 2023 from 10am to 12pm.

How will residents be affected?

  • Your water will be turned off at 10am for approximately two hours. This may be longer if any problems occur. Please let us know if this will cause a significant problem for you and your health.
  • If you will be at home, we recommend storing water for daily tasks such as drinking (approximately 2L per person), general hygiene and food preparation.
  • To flush your toilet, you will need to store a bucket of approximately 10L of water. You can either pour the water down the toilet or fill the cistern and flush using the normal flush system.

We understand that infrastructure works can be disruptive, and we apologise for any inconvenience caused during this time. We will do our best to minimise the impact on your home and complete the work as efficiently as possible.

If you have any questions, please contact Waitomo District Council on 0800 932 4357.
