Due to operational issues and the current hot weather, Piopio township will move into Level 2 water restriction from tomorrow - Friday 6 February 2026.
Water conservation measures are required to reduce demand on the water treatment plant. We ask Piopio residents to be mindful of their water use.

A water shutdown will be happening from 9am to 3.30pm today along William Street and adjoining streets. This is to allow council contractor Schick Civil to commission a new watermain line. Thank you for your understanding.

Te Whitu o Matariki flag raising ceremony

A special flag raising ceremony will take place this week to mark the start of our Matariki celebrations during the month of June.

Te Whitu o Matariki is the seven star cluster that appears around the winter solstice to acknowledge the Māori New Year.

Join us to raise the Te Whitu o Matariki flags this Thursday 1 June 2023 at 7am.

For those wishing to attend, please gather at the first flagpole on Rora Street, Te Kūiti by the Shearing Statue.
