Water Alert Level 2 - PIopio
Due to operational issues and the current hot weather, Piopio township will move into Level 2 water restriction from tomorrow - Friday 6 February 2026.
Water conservation measures are required to reduce demand on the water treatment plant. We ask Piopio residents to be mindful of their water use.
Water shutdown notice - William Street and adjoining streets
A water shutdown will be happening from 9am to 3.30pm today along William Street and adjoining streets. This is to allow council contractor Schick Civil to commission a new watermain line. Thank you for your understanding.

Waste Audit

Waitomo District Council will be undertaking a waste audit this Friday 5 May and Tuesday 9 May.

This means we will be collecting a sample of rubbish from our next kerbside collections.

The waste materials will be sorted at Waitomo District Landfill and then disposed of immediately. 

No data on individual households will be recorded.

All councils are required to carry out a Waste Audit to provide an overview of the makeup of domestic rubbish in our district.
