The WDC Customer Services and Visitor Hub, Waitomo District Library and Admin Building will be closed on on Friday 6 February for Waitangi Day. All waste transfer stations will also be closed.

Water Alert Level 2 - PIopio
Due to operational issues and the current hot weather, Piopio township will move into Level 2 water restriction from tomorrow - Friday 6 February 2026.
Water conservation measures are required to reduce demand on the water treatment plant. We ask Piopio residents to be mindful of their water use.

Closure of Road/Street To Ordinary Vehicular Traffic

PURSUANT to the Transport (Vehicular Traffic Road Closure) Regulations 1965, notice is hereby given that the Waitomo District Council, for the purpose of the Waitomo District Christmas  Parade 2024 will close the following roads/streets to ordinary vehicular traffic for the  periods indicated:


Date: Friday, 13 December 2024
Period of Closure: 4.30pm to 8pm.


Streets/Roads: 

  • Rora Street (from Ward Street to South End Loop)
  • King Street East (from Rora Street to Taupiri Street)
