Strong Wind Watch
Metservice has issued a strong wind watch for our district from midnight Wednesday
The watch is valid from 12am Wednesday 16 April to 3am on Friday 18 April.
Easterly winds may approach severe gale in exposed places. High chance of upgrading to a Warning.
Damage to trees, powerlines, and unsecured structures possible. Driving may be difficult, especially for high-sided vehicles and motorcycles.
Te Anga Road - update as at 10am
Te Anga Road will open from 11am this morning. Traffic controls will still be in place.

Matariki is the 7 Star cluster that appears in the heavens around the Winter solstice indicating the Maori New Year.
Te Whitu o Matariki is a celebration of unity and the growth of traditional knowledge through a series of activities that will take place during the month of June.
