Heavy rain watch

A heavy rain watch has been issued for our district and is valid from 1am to 8am tomorrow morning (Monday 30 March).Metservice has indicated the most intense rainfall is expected within the Waitomo area. There is the possibility the Waitomo area could receive up to 50mm of rain accumulation across a 6 hour period between midnight and 6am, while most of the region may see up to 30mm of rain across the same timeframe.

Kiritehere - Foredune Planting

Join Coastcare - Waikato, lovely locals & the the Tahi Hohaia Hikoia Whanau as we work to restore the coast at Kiritehere. We have >1500 foredune grasses to plant to help strengthen the foredune system at this site and need your help.
Fingers crossed for sunshine! We'll have some spades available, but please bring your lunch, water bottle, gloves if you want them and make sure to wear suitable clothing.
The Tahi Hohaia Hikoia Whanau are hosting this event and invite you to join shared kai after planting - please bring a plate to share.
To protect the health of ourselves and our restoration sites, we ask that you arrive with clean footwear and equipment and stay home if you feel unwell.

Please note there's no cell reception at this site so take a careful look at the directions before coming out and make sure to come to take Soundy road to Kiritehere beach.
