Impounded dogs and stock

This page lists all of the impounded dogs and stock, and includes a picture of the animal. The animal will be listed for 7 days.

Once an impounded dog has been held for 7 days and not claimed by its owner, it then becomes the property of the Waitomo District Council.

If your dog is impounded and it's registration is current, it may be quickly returned to you - provided it hasn't been seized because it has attacked a person or animal.

We only release dogs once all impounding fees and other additional fees (i.e. sustenance) are paid.

Please contact our Customer Services Team if you are interested in becoming the new owner of one of these dogs as they come available.

To report a dog contact us on 0800 932 4357.

🌸 Meet Sadie – A Sweet Senior Looking for Her Forever Home 🌸

Sadie is a gentle soul in her golden years who’s looking for a quiet, loving home to spend the rest of her days.

She's a little shy at first, but give her time and patience, and you’ll discover a loyal, affectionate girl with a big heart.

Once she gets to know you, Sadie truly shines. She’ll nudge you gently with her paw for attention and loves being close to her people.

Her calm nature makes her an ideal companion, and she gets along well with other dogs too.

We would like Sadie to be an inside dog — she thrives on companionship and comfort, and she deserves to live her retirement years as part of the family, safe and warm indoors.

Sadie comes vaccinated, registered, and microchipped — she’s ready to go to a new home where she can feel safe, loved, and comfortable.

If you have a warm bed and a kind heart to offer Sadie, please get in touch with us to arrange a meet-and-greet with this lovely older lady. She’s ready to give her love — and will be so grateful to receive yours.
