Impounded dogs and stock

This page lists all of the impounded dogs and stock, and includes a picture of the animal. The animal will be listed for 7 days.

Once an impounded dog has been held for 7 days and not claimed by its owner, it then becomes the property of the Waitomo District Council.

If your dog is impounded and it's registration is current, it may be quickly returned to you - provided it hasn't been seized because it has attacked a person or animal.

We only release dogs once all impounding fees and other additional fees (i.e. sustenance) are paid.

Please contact our Customer Services Team if you are interested in becoming the new owner of one of these dogs as they come available.

Dogs for Adoption

We are looking for a forever home for Rua

Rua is an 8-month-old male, Beardie x Labrador.

He is a very social fella that loves playing with other dogs and adores human contact. He is currently learning the basics of sit, stay and walking on a lead so will need a family that is willing to continue to work on these things.

He has been an outside dog, but we would prefer he is inside at night with his family.

No idea how he is with cats but is young enough to learn to get along with them.

Rua will have his first vaccination, is up to date with worming but will need to be desexed.

Call us on 0800 932 4357 if you can provide a loving home for Rua.
