Trade Waste
Trade Waste is any liquid waste discharged from a commercial business, trade or industrial premise that carries pollutants in suspension or solution and is discharged to the Te Kūiti Sewerage Reticulation System within the rules as fixed by the Trade Waste Bylaw.
The Te Kūiti Sewerage Treatment System is based on the use of biological processes. Therefore trade waste discharge made to Council's reticulation system must comply with the requirements set out in the Trade Waste Bylaw. The Bylaw imposes limits using criteria such as the type of liquid that can be discharged, the volume of discharge and the rates of flow to allow the optimal successful treatment of trade waste.
