Water Alert Level 2 - PIopio
Due to operational issues and the current hot weather, Piopio township will move into Level 2 water restriction from tomorrow - Friday 6 February 2026.
Water conservation measures are required to reduce demand on the water treatment plant. We ask Piopio residents to be mindful of their water use.

A water shutdown will be happening from 9am to 3.30pm today along William Street and adjoining streets. This is to allow council contractor Schick Civil to commission a new watermain line. Thank you for your understanding.

THE costs to re-locate the Te Kuiti Community House (TKCH) services from Jennings St to the first floor of the Waitomo District Library on Taupiri St have risen from $510,000-$585,000.

Waitomo District Council recently received draft construction plans from engineering firm AECOM Ltd and the budget estimate increased by $75,000.

The price increase will cover unexpected construction costs such as ceiling panel/ grid work replacement and installing a type-4 fire alarm system.

Construction tenders are now being sought.
