Sewer pipe replacement - Carroll Street, Rora Street Te Kuiti

22 May 2018, 11:35 AM

WDC is replacing the sewer pipe that runs under the railway lines from Carroll Street to Rora Street Te Kuiti.

WDC found on investigation that sections of the old concrete pipe were out of alignment and serviceability had deteriorated considerably.

“A CCTV camera showed that the state of that whole section of pipe was in poor condition.” “The pipe replacement will be more resilient against corrosion,” says council's Water Services Manager Andreas Senger.

Due to the restrictions associated with carrying out any work adjacent to the railway corridor, we will directionally drill a slightly smaller diameter continuously welded PE pipe under the road and railway corridor, and pull this through the original old concrete sewer pipe. A utility manhole is also being constructed.
