Te Kuiti Water Supply update #2

24 Jan 2019, 12:06 PM

We are aware that the Te Kuiti Water Supply taste and odour issues are not yet resolved.

We want to assure residents that the water is regularly tested and is treated to the national Drinking Water Standards and does not pose any health risk.

The Te Kuiti Water Treatment Plant is now producing water with improved aesthetics (taste, colour, odour). However, our reservoir is full and we are working to flush the discoloured water through the reticulation network. We need to be careful with this though because the river level is low, and water conservation is crucial during this dry season.  Therefore, we are asking residents to contact us on 0800 932 4357 so we can gather further information and better assess which areas of our network require further mains flushing.

We are optimising carbon dosing and pre-chlorination treatments as well, in an effort to address the taste and odour issues.
