Sport Waikato is pleased to announce a new Regional Connectivity Coordinator for the Waitomo and Ōtorohanga districts.

Robyn (Robbie) Matthews has been successful in acquiring the role and returns to the Sport Waikato team after being in the previous role of District Coordinator for Ōtorohanga for 14 years between 2000 and 2015.

The Regional Connectivity Coordinator role is an important regional role in providing strategic leadership across the sector network by working with key partners to guide physical activity strategy, provision and investment opportunities, and with Robbie’s previous experience she was the ideal candidate to fill the role - a great fit for the Waitomo and Ōtorohanga districts.

Sport Waikato is excited to have someone of Robbie’s calibre join the team. Robbie has extensive experience in the sport and recreation sector, having represented the New Zealand Blacksticks for 15 years and through roles such as the District Coordinator role, and more recently as Operations Manager of Hockey Whanganui for the last three and a half years, overseeing and managing the growth of the sport in Whanganui.

Aside from sport and recreation, Robbie has worked in various youth engagement roles with a passion for enhancing opportunities for the community to participate in recreational activities.

Having spent a large portion of her life in the King Country area, Robbie is looking forward to returning to the region to commence her role.
