Water Alert Level 2 - PIopio
Due to operational issues and the current hot weather, Piopio township is in Level 2 water restriction.
Water conservation measures are required to reduce demand on the water treatment plant. We ask Piopio residents to be mindful of their water use.
Planned Water shutdown notice - Tuesday 17 February 2026
A day-long water shutdown will be happening on Tuesday 17 February from 8.30am to 4.30pm on Boddies Terrace, Wesley Terrace, Tawa Street, Matai Street, William Street and Anzac Street.  This is to allow council contractor Schick Civil to install a new watermain line. Thank you for your understanding.

New bridge taking shape

The replacement Kōpaki rail overbridge on State Highway 30 is taking shape, with much of the structure in place as the construction team look forward to the warmer weather helping progress on site. 

With the beams now being lifted into place, the next few months will see the bridge structure completed, with the deck in place by the end of the year. Work will also continue on the retaining walls, earthworks and pavements to build the new sections of SH30 to connect to the bridge.

Drivers are asked to please consider the safety of workers on and obey all temporary speeds when passing through the site.
